Oppo QOTD: Why isn’t the Chrysler 200 selling better?
I had my father in laws fusion (that I recommended he purchase) for a week, followed by a week in a 200c. As much as I like the Fusion, which is a lot, I found the 200 to be better in every way. Why is it not selling better?

Because Chrysler.

Because people still remember the old 200, 300m, sebring, concord, etc, etc.

It’s really hard to stand out in a sea of Camrys and Accords. Those cars for the most part are not interested in performance or anything. They go with what they know.
A lot of people also still knock Chrysler quality which has never Really been an issue for the Accord.

Because of the last Sebring/200 and Chrysler’s highly questionable reliability

The new ones are popular with rental fleets.

they pre-ruined the 200 nameplate on the hideous MCR on the 2nd gen sebring. They sold that as an all-new car although everone knew it was a sebring.

Because when people still think Chrysler, they think of boring cars with ugly exteriors that break down all the time and are uncompetitive and every way. For as popular as the 300 is, that’s the ONLY car that has found any success with the brand, and given the 200’s rather questionable past, people refuse to touch it with a 39 and a half foot sterilized barge pole being held by someone else. Shame because I’d much rather have a new 200, it's the only car in that category and price range I like.

I’m sure this is why. The LH and LX platforms were really good, but for at least 25 years all their regular cars smaller than these were complete crap, including the last generation of 200.
The last generation Fusion was a very decent car.
Also, FCA has one of the bottom spots in reliability.

LX was good because many of the components were strait lifted from the MB parts bin. The LH...it was competitive to the better american made 80’s/90’s offerings...but thats damming with faint praise.
